All things considered, I think spending a minimum of 75% of your time on solving problems together, given enough time to understand the problems that need solving, sounds like a pretty good deal.

Yep, I agree.

In the end it depends a bit on how well the meetings are conducted, but that’s the case for all meetings.

However, compared to other meetings that companies invent, Scrum events at least have the advantage that their purpose, the value they can bring is well known.
